why-learning-is-important

Learning and improvement are important parts of life. Without learning, you can’t grow. And if you can’t grow, you can’t reach your goals and achieve the success you want in life. No matter what you want to achieve in today’s world, you can learn it from someone who has done it before.

Imagine you are playing with a 3-year-old. He loves planes. You saw a piece of paper on the table and decided to show him how to fold it into a paper plane.

And so, you fold the paper into half and then fold the wings. Once you completed your paper plane, you told the 3-year-old that the paper plane can fly. He was excited, waiting for you to launch your plane into the air.

3, 2, 1, and launched! You threw the paper plane and it flew far across the living hall and landed on the kitchen floor. The 3-year-old was happy and excited. He asked you for a new piece of paper because he wanted to make one himself.

You gave him a piece of paper, and he started to fold his own paper plane. After he’s done, he threw it into the air, but it didn’t fly. Why?

Well, he didn’t know how to fold the paper plane the right way. Hence, you showed him how to do it. You asked him to follow each of your steps and do exactly as you do.

Now, the 3-year-old has his paper plane completed. He threw it into the air, and it flew across the room, made a 360-degree turn, and landed on the sofa.

How did the 3-year-old manage to make the paper plane that able to fly through the air? Well, he learned from you.

This is why learning is important. If you don’t learn and if you try to do everything by yourself, it will be extremely difficult.

No matter what goals you want to achieve or what kind of success you want to have in life, by learning and improving yourself, you can get there.

Champions were not born, they were made. In other words, you can train yourself to become the right person that you want to be.

You can learn yourself to achieve the success you want in whatever industry or career you want.

Think about it, how does one become a great golfer? Well, through practice, training, and improving. Do you know how Tiger Woods becomes one of the best golfers in the world?

In an article I published on Medium.com, I shared the story of how Tiger Woods trained at 11 PM, in a pitch-black environment and rained heavily. When a friend saw Tiger who was still training hitting the golf balls at 3 AM in the rain, Tiger said, “It doesn’t rain very often in Northern California. It’s the only chance I have to practice hitting in the rain.”

That’s why learning is important. And that’s how learning can make you successful.

1. Learning Shortcuts Your Journey to Success

Do you want to shortcut your way to success? Well, you can, through learning the right strategies from the right person.

For example, if one of your goals is to submit Mount Everest, what do you need to do? For instance, you can interview people who have done that, watch a documentary about it, and then train your stamina and prepare yourself for the journey.

If you skip all the training, guess what will happen? You could fall and you could throw away your life. It isn’t easy to submit Mount Everest. But does that mean that it can’t be done?

No, difficult doesn’t mean impossible. You can make it possible by learning and getting a guide to show you how it can be done.

When you read books, attend courses, and learn the necessary knowledge or skill, you shortcut your curve to getting to your destination.

What if you want to build a blog but you have no idea where to start or how to do it? You don’t have the technical skills on how to register a domain and how to design a blog?

What if I told you that I can share and guide you on how to build a blog like mine? Do you think the whole process will become easier? Of course.

The same goes for everything in life. No matter what it is that you want to achieve in life, learn from others. You don’t have to do everything yourself. The more you learn, the more you know. And the more you know, the more you can accomplish.

2. Learning Improves Your Confidence

Another important key that most people often underestimate is having the confidence to achieve what they want in life.

You see, self-confidence is important. When you don’t have the confidence, you will either choose not to do it or you will just do it in a half-hearted manner.

Imagine you’re in sales and you’re trying to sell your product to a client. But you don’t have the confidence with the client, your product, and yourself. How do you think the sales presentation will go through? Not good, right?

It happens to me whenever I’m not prepared for what to write about on my blog. When I know what to write, the article title, the subheadings, what to cover, etc., I become more confident and able to write with flow.

However, when I have no idea what to write about, usually, it will take me a long time to figure out the article title, and then because the article is not properly structured, I find it difficult to write.

So, if you want to build your level of confidence, always be willing to learn and get yourself prepared.

Imagine if you are to deliver a 15 minutes speech on stage in front of 100 people. If you are fully prepared and you know what to say, you will have the confidence and deliver the speech smoothly.

However, if you are not prepared and you’re scared, you will lack the self-confidence to deliver a good speech.

The more you learn and the more you prepare yourself for what you want, the more confident you will become.

And of course, the more confident you are, the more success you can achieve.

3. Learning Changes Your Life

First, learning changes your mind. It makes you think out of the box and makes you a more interesting person.

Think about it, where were you 20 years ago? Don’t you agree that you have learned so much during these 20 years and have improved a lot? If your answer is no, then you should be serious about learning and improvement.

Second, learning expands your knowledge. Just like when you don’t know how to bake a cake, you head over to YouTube and watch a couple of videos on how to bake a cake. After that, you ‘installed’ the knowledge of how to bake a cake into your mind. Now that you know how to do it. And you can bake your own cake.

The same goes for every other thing you want to learn. Whether it is to learn how to invest or how to play the guitar, as long as you are open to accepting new ideas, you can expand your knowledge through learning.

I won’t be where I am right now without learning and reading all the books. I’m an avid reader, and I read about 2 books a month. Besides that, I’m also an eager learner in topics like personal development and internet marketing.

Every year, I invested thousands into courses, seminars, and workshops to improve myself. But I must admit, some courses under-deliver and aren’t as good, but that doesn’t stop me from learning.

I know that if I want to reach my goals, I need to constantly improve myself in the direction I want to go. What about you?

4. Learning Makes You Grow

This is one of the most important keys to success. When you learn, you grow. Take a look at this picture below:

level up yourself

The picture says a lot about your size. When you are big, you are able to tackle bigger problems. But when you are small, even small problems may seem like a big problem for you.

I always like to use the example of playing games. When you’re playing a game and your character is at level 3, a level 5 enemy will be a difficult enemy to beat. But when you upgraded and leveled up yourself to level 9, the same level 5 enemy will be easy to beat.

Hence, it is not about if the problem is big or small, it is about your level. It is about your size.

If you want to make a million dollars, you must level up yourself so that you have the capability to earn that amount of money and manage it. If you can’t even handle $1,000, do you think you can properly manage a million?

Do you think that making $100,000 a month is a lot? Try to talk to billionaires who are making much more than that. It will change your perspective.

Therefore, learn to improve yourself. The bigger you become, the more you can handle.

It is not about how much money or how much you can achieve, it is about how big you are and how much you can manage.

So, if you want to earn a million dollars, learn the skill necessary to earn that amount of money, and equip yourself with the knowledge to manage a million dollars.

When you have the skill, you can have the result.

  1. It’s good to say that education doesn’t guarantee anything. So in the minds of the new generation, the opinion has already been clearly formed that studying is a complete mess. It can be seen everywhere. information businessmen who write illiterately, create exactly the same training videos, etc. It doesn’t matter, the main thing is to sell!
Yes, education in itself gives only that we can write and read (some, if desired, master more), but! Having a foundation, self-education lays on fertile ground.

    1. Yes, education is important, and learning too. But in today’s world, we can’t stick to just a form of learning from school. We needed something more and different. That’s why I suggest self-learning. 🙂
