Do you want to live a good life? I believe no one will answer “No” to this question. Everyone wants to live a good life, some even dream about having a great life!

Most people wanted to have a good life, but unfortunately, most of them are not living the life they want.
I’m here to tell you that anyone can live the life that they want as long as they follow these 10 keys below…
1. Living your life on purpose
Do you wake up each morning feeling tired and wish to sleep again? Or do you wake up each morning with excitement and you just can’t wait for what’s coming?
This is the main difference between ordinary and extraordinary people.
Successful people who have accomplished outstanding result in their lives have a clear purpose.
They know what they want to do with their lives and they have a reason, a strong one to wake up each morning.
When you have no reason and you do not know what you want to accomplish in your life, you will wake up without purpose and feel tired every morning.
Thus, you must start your day great with a clear purpose.
You have to find your life’s direction. Why do you think extraordinary people like Thomas Edison, Richard Branson and Steve Jobs able to sleep less than normal people?
That’s because they have a clear purpose in life. They go through their day with a clear vision and they can’t help but to consistently think about it.
This is why you need to have a dream. So what are your dreams?
What do you dream to achieve and what do you want out of your life?
Your dreams will guide you and they will drive you to go through life. They give you a clear sense of direction and they let you know what you need to do to get there.
All successful people have a dream. You must do the same.
If you haven’t found your dream yet, do not settle and keep looking. Having a dream that motivates you, drives you and able to guide you in life is the number one key to living a good life.
Going through life without having a dream is like losing direction and getting lost.
You will feel hopeless and all you can do is to follow the crowd, just like a lost sheep following the herd.
So discover what you want to achieve in your life right now. Find out your purpose in life and have a dream.
2. Let your passion drives you
Are you doing what you love? I can’t emphasize how important it is to live your life with passion.
Here’s a powerful and meaningful quote from Steve Jobs that you probably already knew, but I insist you read it one more time…
“Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle.”
You cannot live a good life without passion. Your passion will motivate you like fuel can drive the engine.
Therefore, love what you do and unleash your passion.
Oftentimes it is difficult to pursue what you love because what you love doing may not be able to generate you the income you desire.
It may be difficult in the beginning, but in the end and over the long-term, choosing a work or a job or a career that you love will always make you more money.
Why? The reason is simple, you can only do great work when you love what you do.
If you hate to meet people or talk to people, getting a job in the sales industry where you have to meet with people and present your products to others are not going to help.
Here are 2 points you have to fulfill in order to create amazing result in life:
- You must have the passion for it.
- You must have the skill for it.
Sometimes what you love doing may not be what you are good at. Sometimes what you are good at may not be your passion.
Thus, you have to find the sweet spot and strike in the middle.
You must discover something that you love doing and where you can build the skill.
Albert Einstein has a great saying on this…
“Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.”
You are a genius. It is just that you have to discover your potential and unleash your greatness in the right area.
So choose to go with your passion and do something you can improve at.
3. What are your 100 goals?
Do you know that setting goals are important in life?
Not only that your goals can guide you, they can give you hope and they allow you to measure your progress.
Do you have the experience where you find out what you love doing and you feel so excited? You try to follow through and take action for a few days.
However, after a week, you feel lost because you did not see any result coming in. And after that, you slowly let go on it and eventually forget about it.
This is exactly what happening to most people. This is why most people fail to achieve what they want in their lives.
They did not write down their goals and they never review their goals.
Here’s a powerful principle you must remember when it comes to goal achievement, “What is out of sight, will be out of your mind.”
Hence, you have to consistently review your goals, every day.
Your goals will tell you what you need to do and where you are right now. This is why goal setting is important because it allows you to know your progress.
While it is important to have the main goal, you need to have your 100-goals list too.
It is true that you should focus most of your energy into your MIG (Most-Important-Goal), but you must have more goals, big and small, to make your life more colorful and interesting.
Thus, write down your 100 goals right now.

The reason you want to have more goals is because you want to give yourself more opportunities to explore and to achieve more.
Some goals may take longer to achieve and you may feel discouraged. So create more goals and celebrate the accomplishment whenever you hit a victory, no matter whether it is a big goal or a small one.

4. Live for yourself
If you want to live a good life, you must live for yourself.
I have seen a lot of people living in stress and resentment because they are not living a life that they want.
They are living a life that their parents or their boss want them to.
This is not going to work out well if you are not living your life on your own terms.
I have seen cases where parents want their children to be a doctor while all their children wanted to do is to be a good writer.
This is why it is important to have a purpose in life. You can excel only when you are living your life on your own terms.
Not only that, you do not have to compare yourself with others. And you do not have to feel jealous of what others have.
I feel guilty myself when I think about it. I used to compare myself with others quite a lot. Whenever I see how others are accomplishing more, driving a bigger car, owning properties, etc, I feel dejected.
Never let this happen to you. Luckily I have learned to never compare myself with others.
Everyone is different. If you are poor and in debt right now, it does not mean that you will stay this way forever.
You do not have to feel sour or pressure when you see someone drives a new car or wear an expensive watch.
You can achieve that as well when the time comes.
First, you must understand your calling. You have to understand that God makes no junk and as long as you work hard for it, things will eventually work out and you can live your dream.
Some people were born into a rich family and they seem to have everything. You do not have to compare yourself to them.
Instead of feeling dejected for what you do not have, try to switch your thinking and feel grateful and joyful for what you have.
5. Save as much as you can
What it means is that you have to help and contribute as much as you can.
“Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile.” – Albert Einstein
Do more good, help others, and always contribute back to the society. You can call it Karma or whatever word your prefer, this is the golden rule of life.
When you do something good to others, you will feel good and it will come back to you.
It is said that if you want to get rich, you have to make others rich. You have to create values to them, help people to solve their problems and get them what they want.
In return, the people you have helped will give you what you want.
Try to smile and greet a stranger in the lift, I can be sure that he or she will smile back and greet you.
Do you know that when you help others, they are not the only ones that benefit? You will benefit from your own good action as well.
When you saw someone falls down on the street and you give him a hand and help him up, you will feel good from within.
Not only you have helped that person, but you will feel good inside as well. You feel that you have done a good deed and you feel satisfied.
This is why it is important to save as many as you can.
When you donate some money to people who are in need, you know deep within you that you have more than enough and you are willing to share.
As a result, you will feel good. And when you feel good, good things will come to you.
What you can do is to start small. You don’t have to go out and donate millions; you can start off by helping others or donate a small percentage of your money.
Or better yet, try to smile more at people and compliment others for their good work.
6. Get rid of negative emotions
When it comes to living a good life, there’s no way you can get around from dealing with negative emotions.
You cannot live a good life if you always have to think negative and feel negative.
Negative emotions will suck the energy out of your life. You will feel tired, exhausted, sluggish, lethargic, angry, frustrated, etc.
And when you are feeling negative, do you think you can move forward in life? The answer is obvious.
This is why you need to learn how to handle negative emotions in your daily life.
As a human, we cannot get rid of all our negative emotions. We can only decrease them and never let them stop us from getting what we want in life.
In fact, negative emotions are there to protect us from danger.
Our mind is telling us that something is bad and we need to be cautious. However, if these negative emotions are not helping or if you let them grow, they will take over your life.
I believe that everyone will have negative feelings and emotions at times, and you just need to learn how to manage them.
A very simple and effective way to stop thinking negatively is to complain less and stop blaming.
When it rains, stop complaining or blaming the weather.
When the economy is soft and you can’t do many sales, stop blaming or complain about the economy.
When the traffic is congested or your car breaks down halfway, do not blame or complain.
Your complaints and your blames will not do any good to anyone, including yourself. They will just make matters worse.
Instead of complaining and blaming, find a way to get over it. When it rains, tell yourself that it is good because there will be less competitor.
When the economy is slow, tell yourself that it is time to be different and to train your ability to bounce back.
When the traffic is jam because there’s a car breaks down in the middle of the road, be grateful that it is not your car.
Apart from stopping the blame game, try to mix with other positive minded people.
Energy is contagious and it can affect you. When you talk to positive people who tell you everything is possible, you will feel hope again and stay in the positive.
On the other hand, if you mix with negative people, their negative energy will influence you and make you negative.
If you want to be a winner, stop mixing yourself with the losers.
7. Keep yourself healthy
You cannot live a good life without having a good health to enjoy your life.
Living your life with a good health and going through every day with energy are often underestimated by most people.
If you are healthy right now, it does not mean that you will continue to be healthy all the time. You need to take care and prevent yourself from falling ill.
And without good energy, you can never be productive. Some people feel sleepy in the day because they sleep late or they took alcohol the night before.
Some people are always tired because they do not exercise and they have never sweat through their body for a long time.
Never let this happen to you. Make sure you are healthy and full of energy.
Here are some suggestions you can follow to live a good life with a good health…
1. Sleep well
You have to sleep for hours no matter who you are. You have to sleep even if you are the president of the country. So choose to sleep well.
Get a comfortable mattress with good pillows. When it is time to sleep, sleep. Try to sleep in complete darkness and make the temperature just nice for your body.
2. Eat healthily
Eat more nutritious food and eat more greens. Try to lower down your consumption of processed foods and eat more fruits.
When possible, try to take in nutrition supplement from time to time. What you eat will show through your physical body. If you are overweight, probably you should be more careful before you put food into your mouth.
3. Stop smoking and less alcohol
Smokers beware; you should stop smoking at all cost. There’s no benefit to smoking. If you think that smoking can relieve your tension or stress, think again.
It is not the cigarette that helps you to lower your stress, but it is your breathing pattern that changed and helped.
Try not to drink alcohol at night if you want to wake up the next day feeling productive and motivated.
4. Exercise more
Do I need to explain this further? Just create a schedule and commit to it. You can always start small. Commit to doing some exercise that makes you sweat at home.
If you can find more time, go jogging or hit the gym. If you feel lazy to exercise, try to go for your favorite sports that excite you.
8. Be and stay happy
Living a good life requires happiness. So be and stay happy all the time.
I know that it is difficult at times, but you have to understand that happiness is a choice. You can choose to be happy or you can choose to feel sad, it is up to you.
So how do you choose? It is simple, just focus on things that make you happy, and you will feel the joy. And if you focus and think about things that make you upset, you will feel the sadness in you.
Your mind has the switch to your emotion. Whatever you focus on will grow. Thus, if you choose to think about how bad luck you are or how unlucky that your boss has fired you, you will feel bad.
Change your thoughts and your focus; you can change your feelings and emotion.
Another way to feel happy is through your motion. Do you know that motion creates emotion?
When you are breathing fast and deep, moving your body around, you will never feel upset. This is why when you listen to uplifting songs and you move your body with the tune, you will feel driven.
On the other hand, when you stay stagnant, breathe shallow and slow, you often will feel bored or negative.
Try to look at the ceiling and make a big silly grin, and then try to think about sad things that make you upset.
Can you do that? It is impossible if your smile is big and real enough.
By the way, your progress will make you happy and satisfy as well.
Try to accomplish what you have set out to do for the day and you will feel satisfy when you get the work done.
Satisfaction comes along with progress. This is why people set goals and they measure their progress.
When you know you are moving forward toward living your dream life each day, you will feel happy and fulfill.
9. Learn to let go
You cannot live a good life if you do not want to let go on what has happened in the past.
I have seen people who still hold on to their past anger even after 20 years. Come one, holding grudges are not going to do you any good.
Here’s a thoughtful quote from Buddha…
“Holding onto anger is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die.”
So let it go. Let go of what is not going to do you any good. I know that sometimes it is easier said than done, but you have to let go of it no matter what.
Do understand that things happened for a reason. Probably God wants you to learn something or maybe it is just not your time yet.
When Steve Jobs was fired from the company he started, he felt like the whole world was coming down on him.
However, after some time, he started to see things more clearly. He went on to buy Pixar and made Pixar one of the best animation companies in the world.
After that, he managed to return to Apple. And during his speech in a graduation, he said that getting fired from Apple was the best thing that happened to him.
You will never know what will happen in the future. Maybe God has a better plan for you.
So trust that everything is working in perfect order. Look at the sun, the moon, the waves, the seas, the rivers, the mountains, etc, the universe is working in perfect order.
You do not have to force it. All you need to do is to trust that things are working out in the way they should be.
Hence, just do your best and let the universe handle the rest.
When I said you should let go and trust that everything is in perfect order, I’m not saying that you should sit back and do nothing.
You should do your best to work and after that, let the results come.
Doing nothing and hope for things to happen is not going to work. Praying to win a lottery is not going to work, you need to go out there and buy a ticket!
So let go of all your sadness, your resentment, your anger, and all your negative feelings toward someone or something.
When you let go, you will feel like you have released the handbrake and you can go faster and go further.
10. Manage yourself
If you want to live a good life, you should learn to manage yourself and improve yourself consistently from day to day.
You must aim at improving yourself in every area of your life. Develop yourself and commit to constant and never ending improvement.
Read books to learn. Attend seminars to learn even more. Better yet, get a mentor to guide you through what you want to achieve in life.
If you are in sales, learn to improve your sales skills. Learn how to prospect effectively and how to deliver your presentation more powerfully.
If you are a blogger, learn how to write so that your audience will want to read and listen. Learn to grow and provide what your market wants.
You have to improve yourself to feel good.
If you are not moving forward in life, you will never feel that you are living. Try to imagine that if you are working in a boring job for 10 years and you are still doing the same old thing repeating every single day, will you feel good?
I seriously don’t think so. Accomplishment is important and it is what makes us grow.
Learn to manage your finances. Are you growing your savings and your investment funds? If you are not, you must learn how to do it.
Money is a topic most people shun and this is what makes them a bad money manager. Learn to manage money and let your money grows.
What about your relationship with people you loved?
Are you doing anything to grow your relationship with people you care? Or you just let them be?
One thing I learned is that if you want to create a stronger bond with people you love, you must put in an effort to grow that relationship.
It is the same in every area in life, be it finances, spiritual, relationship, career, etc. If you want to improve and be better at it, you must put in the effort.
For example, how can you grow your relationship with your parents and make the bond stronger?
You can call them more often, you can visit them every weekend, you can buy them foods and fruits, you can bring them for vacation, you can cook for them, and more.
There are many things you can do to grow a relationship. You just need to be willing to do it.
What if you want to grow your career? It is the same, you can read books to learn more, you can speak to your boss and tell him you want to learn more, you can immerse yourself more deeply into your company, etc.
Whatever you do, you must be willing to commit and willing to learn.
So learn to manage yourself if you want to live a good life.
