simple habits for motivation

Your morning sets the pace of your day. When you wake up with motivation, feeling strong and energetic, you tend to accomplish more during the day. On the other hand, when you wake up feeling tired, sleepy, and lack of motivation, highly likely, by the end of the day, you will never accomplish much.

The key to living a successful life starts with your morning. We all go through ups and downs in life, that’s normal, but extraordinary people understand that if they can manage their mornings and create more productive mornings, they can seize their days and win at life.

So, if you want to create more wins in life, start your morning right. Make your morning productive and wake up with motivation.

According to a study conducted at the University of Pennsylvania and Ohio State University, the researchers studied the mood of a group of staff at a call center.

The 3-week study discovered that staff who started their day in a bad mood usually ended in a bad mood too, even if they received positive feedback or compliments from customers during the day.

Staff who started with a good mood will finish their day with the same upbeat and happy mood.

The study also found that staff with a bad mood had lower productivity than staff with a good mood.

In other words, if you want to accomplish more and create more victories in life, you must learn to manage your mornings.

Start your morning strong and with motivation and you will accomplish more during the day. Here are 7 daily habits you should develop to wake up with motivation each morning…

1. Make it a routine

First, try to make your morning routine. You want to turn your morning into a habit so that you can wake up each day feeling great.

If you choose to wake up at 6:00 AM every day, then try to stick to the plan and do it consistently.

Don’t wake up at 6:00 AM today and then 7:00 AM the next day because you sleep late. You want to give your body and mind a routine to follow.

When things become a habit, it is easier to stick to it. Plus, when things are familiar, it takes less of your willpower and motivation to act.

You don’t want to wake up each morning feeling tired and exhausted, hence, make things familiar by turning your mornings into routines.

2. Wake up on time

This is extremely important. When your alarm goes off, wake up. Don’t hit the snooze button and continue to sleep.

You want to wake up with energy and motivation. If you snooze your alarm and continue to sleep, most likely you will wake up feeling tired.

The reason is simple, you are already awake when you hit the snooze button, but you choose to sleep again. It makes you feel tired when you get up for the second time.

Here’s what you can do to make sure you wake up on time – turn up the volume of your alarm and put the alarm further away from your bed. Preferably, somewhere you need to get up to reach your alarm.

This will force you to get up and switch off the alarm. Of course, when you get up from your bed and after switching off the alarm, walk straight to the bathroom. Don’t fall back on your bed again.

3. Exercise

I bet you have heard about this over and over again, exercise. Yes, exercise is good for your body, especially in the morning.

When you just wake up and are still in a sleepy mood, the best way to get yourself recharge and fully awake is to exercise.

Run around, jump, do some push-ups, and make yourself fully awake. It is a great way to jump-start your day with motivation.

4. Take a shower

Yes, take a shower. If you exercise in the morning and you sweat, take a few minutes to rest and then take a shower.

A shower only takes about 10 to 15 minutes. After the shower, you will feel totally refresh and awake.

Usually, I end my shower with cold water for a minute or so. It is a great way to kick-start my day with energy.

5. Identify your goal of the day

There is no way you can be motivated without an exciting goal. You need to have something to look forward to.

I have seen a lot of people feeling no motivation and sleepy, not because they lack sleep, but rather, they lack an exciting to pursue during the day.

When you have nothing to do, you feel sleepy and tired. But when you have an exciting target to pursue, you fill your day with excitement and motivation.

Hence, don’t go through your day without knowing your goal. Find out what you want to accomplish during the day, and work toward it.

In my opinion, identifying your goals and working toward them is one of the most important parts of success. You can’t hit a target you can’t see.

Plus, when your goal is exciting and challenging, you will find yourself feeling motivated just thinking about it. This is why highly successful people are so passionate about their work. They know their vision and they have an exciting goal to pursue.

6. Plan your day

Once you have identified your goal, the next thing you should do is to plan your day. If you don’t know what to do throughout the day, you will waste a lot of time.

Imagine having nothing to do during the day, guess what will you do? Surfing YouTube mindlessly? Checking Facebook and Instagram for updates from your friends? Or spending an hour on mobile games?

This is what happens when you don’t have a plan. You need to give instructions to your brain so that it knows what to do.

When you have no idea what to do, you will end up becoming reactive. You will do whatever things that come to you.

But when you have a plan and you know what to do, you become proactive. Instead of waiting for things to happen, you make things happen.

This is why planning is important. So, make planning one of your daily habits.

7. Spend time to look good

Yes, spend time to look good. We all care about how others look at us, to a certain extent. And because our impressions matter, when you look good, you tend to feel more confident and motivated.

In fact, there was a study conducted by 2 economists discovered that extra time spent on grooming has a positive and significant effect on men’s and women’s earnings.

When you look good, you feel confident. When you feel confident, you tend to take more action and accomplish more.

So, spend a few minutes in front of the mirror and make yourself look good.

It really doesn’t matter if you work from home. You can still dress up nicely to make yourself feel good.

Conclusion

These are the 7 simple habits you should develop to wake up with motivation and win more each day.

To achieve great success in life, you don’t need to be extreme. You just need to develop good daily habits that will win your day. It’s like running a marathon, you don’t have to sprint and use all your energy, you just need to maintain your pace.

And eventually, you will finish the marathon. Success works the same way too.

You just need to make sure you accomplish some small victories each day. By taking one small step at a time. And how do you do that? By winning your day through managing your mornings.
