shortcut-to-success

What if there are methods you can shortcut your way to success? Are you going to do it? Or are you going to let it slip?

First of all, I do believe that there are ways where we can shortcut our way to achieve what we want in life.

Regardless of whether it is in business, your career, fitness, health, or your relationship, there are ways that you can take to achieve the results you want in a faster manner.

No, don’t get me wrong, I’m not asking you to do something illegal or illegitimate. I’m suggesting real and proven methods to achieve quick results. And it’s possible.

Well then, if there is a shortcut, why do so many people still don’t get it? Why do most people still fail to find the path to achieving the success they desire? Why is it that so many people are still struggling and fail to reach their goals?

In my point of view, there are 3 main problems, and they are…

Problem #1: Most people don’t believe in shortcuts

Yes, shortcuts have been labeled as something negative in most people’s minds. They think that taking a shortcut is not the right way to do things.

When I was in real estate sales many years ago, one of my friends’ parents thought that I was into something like a get-rich-quick scheme. Her parents thought that I was looking for shortcuts to get rich.

Why? Well, because real estate is such a big-ticket product. And if I manage to sell a property, the commission is huge. And to my friend’s parents, this is not hard-earned money.

And so, they don’t like sales jobs. They think that sales jobs are con jobs where the salesman just wants to make some quick bucks.

They are wrong.

This why I said that most people don’t believe in shortcuts. They have the perception that taking a shortcut is something unethical.

Hence, the idea of a shortcut never appears in most people’s minds.

If they want to become successful and get rich, guess what most people will do? Get a good job, work hard, and save money.

The method – work hard and save money – just doesn’t work anymore.

If you want to achieve great success in your career, you need to do something else. You need to find ways to achieve bigger results in a much shorter time.

Thus, stop thinking that taking a shortcut is all wrong. No, just that the method is different, it doesn’t mean that it is wrong.

Problem #2: Most people are conditioned by their surroundings

Guess why most people are not taking the shortcuts, well, because they have been conditioned to believe that there are no shortcuts.

In today’s world, if you want to achieve financial success, you don’t have to work at a job for the rest of your life to save every penny you earn.

There are so many gigs/work and business you can start and make a good living from them.

Look at all the successful YouTubers. How about the social media influencers who made 6-figures or more every year?

So, don’t be conditioned by the old thinking that the only way to achieve financial success is through working hard at a job that you hate and save every penny and don’t spend.

There are other methods where you can achieve financial success faster.

Therefore, don’t fall prey to your surroundings to think that there is only one way to make a living.

Most people are too afraid to be different because they worry that others may laugh at them.

When you take a different path like instead of getting a job after you graduate, you start an internet business and start working on social media, what will your friends think about you?

No, ask yourself, how do you look at this yourself? Can you accept not getting a job and starting an online business and becoming a social media influencer?

Most people still can’t get over it. They think that getting a job is the right way to make a living. Which is really not.

Don’t be conditioned by your surroundings. Instead, choose to live life according to your terms.

Problem #3: Most people don’t ask, they just follow the norm

Yes, most people don’t take shortcuts because they don’t ask. They just follow what most people do.

If you want to achieve success, you need to always be hungry for improvement and always asking for a better way to do things.

The way you do things now may not the best way, it is just a way you have used to or a way that you think is the best.

We all have dreams that we want to pursue in life, but most of us don’t ask or get advice from those who have done it. We keep everything to ourselves and we think that we already know them all.

When was the last time you seek advice from people who have done it in your field?

And the answer to the above question is what separates the successful from the unsuccessful.

Extraordinary people understand that there is more than one way to achieve the results they want.

Hence, they are consistently learning and improving.

They know that the only way to shortcut their way to success is to absorb the knowledge from others and learn the skills from others so that they can perform in a much efficient manner.

This is why professional athletes have coaches. They want to learn from the best to improve themselves.

On the other hand, those who are not willing to learn always fall behind.

How to Shortcut Your Way to Success

Now that we have debunked the 3 biggest myths about the shortcut to success, it is time to talk about how you can shortcut your way to achieve the success you want, in a faster and easier manner.

Here are the 4 methods of how you can do so:

1. Associate with those who have done it

First, associate with people who have done it. In other words, you want to network and make friends with other successful people in your field.

For instance, if you want to become the best real estate negotiator in your company, then mix with those who are at the top. Make friends with them and spend more time with the champions.

Why? Because when you associate with other successful people, you will eventually become one of them.

I bet you have heard the famous phrase from Jim Rohn:

“You’re the average of the five people spend the most time with.”

When we make friends and spend time with extraordinary people, our thinking will change. We start to think like they do and act like they do.

Which eventually, we will start to perform and receive great success like they did.

Do you know that Henry Ford, Thomas Edison, Harvey Firestone, and John Burroughs were good friends? They called themselves the Four Vagabonds.

And do you know that Steve Jobs and Larry Ellison were great friends? After Jobs was fired from Apple, at one point, Ellison even wanted to buy the entire company, Apple, so that his good friend Jobs could return to it.

So, associate with other successful people. Make friends with people who are at the top of your industry. And spend more time with extraordinary people.

This way, you will find patterns and learn how to shortcut your way to achieve the greater success you want.

2. Learn directly from others

Do you have mentors or coaches to guide you? Do you have role models to learn from? Do you learn directly from other successful people?

Besides surrounding yourself with great people, you must also learn from them. The best way is to learn directly and seek advice from them.

Don’t worry about being bold or that they will laugh at you, they won’t. Why?

It’s simple, if you tell mediocre people about your dreams, they will laugh at you and think that it’s impossible.

But when you tell successful people about your dreams, they will support and encourage you because they know it is possible. They’ve done it.

Therefore, learn directly from others who have accomplished the success you seek. And trust me, you will succeed quicker than most people.

3. Read a lot of books

Another easy way how you can shortcut your way to success is to read a lot of books. I know, reading is passive, but still, reading is much better than not reading at all.

There is a saying:

“If you think that education is expensive, try ignorance.”

Reading may not make you successful, but it can change your thinking, which can change your life.

If you read a book every month, you will have read 12 books in a year. And in 5 years, you will have read 60 books.

Imagine how reading 60 books can change your mindset and the way you think. If you just grab a new idea or insight from each book, you will have 60 new ideas.

And what if you implement these ideas? Do you think your life is going to change?

I’m a strong believer in reading.

I am where I am right now because of reading books. I’m glad that I’ve made it a habit to read every day. On average, I read about 2 books a month.

I wouldn’t start this blog if not for reading. I guess I will be working on a regular 9 to 5 job if I didn’t read all the books that have changed my thinking.

If reading isn’t important, Bill Gates will not encourage people to read.

4. Connect the dots as much as possible

Finally, to shortcut your way to success, you must learn to connect the dots better. You must be able to see the big picture from high above and then come up with a strategy that will get you the result faster.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that you shouldn’t work hard.

But before you work hard, you must make sure you have the right strategy or the direction you’re heading is correct.

You don’t want to work so hard to climb a ladder only to discover that the ladder is leaning against the wrong wall. It’s not where you want to go.

While it is true that sometimes you will never know if something you’re pursuing is the right thing that you want, this is why I suggest you learn from other successful people and read more.

The more you explore and discover, the more likely you’re going to stumble upon a shortcut that will get you to your destination.

Conclusion

There are shortcuts to success, and you can shortcut your way to achieve what you want in life.

However, before you can do so, you must get rid of the non-supporting beliefs about shortcuts. Once you believe that there is a quicker and better way to get to what you want, work hard to get there.
