How to Keep Yourself Motivated While Pursuing Your Dreams

It’s part of life that often the things that are most desirable require time and patience, and energy to accomplish.

When you’re seeking something in life that requires an investment of time and energy, it can be easy to get discouraged along the way and wonder if you’re wasting your efforts. You might begin to wonder if you’re a little bit unaware or crazy, and fears can start to creep in. You can be left doubting yourself and your abilities.

The following will explore a few things that can help motivate you to keep going when you’re starting to get discouraged in the pursuit of your dreams.

1. Work On Your Dream First Thing in The Morning

When you’ve just woken up and are rested and emotionally recovered from your sleep is when you are most effective. Because of this, many people find great success in waking up early and devoting the first hour or two of the day to their dream.

No matter what happens throughout the day, no matter how tired you get or worn down or disappointed, you’ll know that you’ve made progress towards your dreams.

If you wait until the end of the day, you might be completely worn out by everything that went on and not has the energy or emotional wherewithal to get to work. It’s also a beautiful habit to get into to be paying yourself first on an energetic level each day.

2. Make Cuts Where You Can

One of the big ways that pursuing your dreams can put a damper on your day-to-day life is if it’s causing things to be tight at home, either time-wise or financially. If this is the case, you might want to look into making cuts.

This might mean agreeing to do fewer things so that you have the time to work on your passion projects, train, or practice without pressure or exhaustion. Perhaps, looking for ways you can cut expenses to help reduce the financial pressure of pursuing your dreams.

For example, if you are planning to purchase your dream car, for instance, this dealer recommends shopping for second-hand vehicles instead of buying a brand new one and you’ll get to enjoy the same satisfaction as a new car for a significantly less amount.

Generally, you need to take a look at your daily habits and see where you can take something away without missing it.

3. Read Other People’s Stories

When something starts to feel impossible, it’s a good idea to explore the internet and find some stories that prove that sensation wrong. You can say to yourself, no, look, it is possible, other people have done it.

Try to avoid posts from people who teach but haven’t actually done the thing and stick to quotes and interviews from people who have actually done what you’re trying to do.

There are a lot of people who post about things they’ve never done online, and sometimes their advice can be a bit wonky.

Any time you find there’s some negative self-talk going on or the presence of self-limiting beliefs, do your best to seek out an example that proves that belief wrong.

This being said, if you’re beginning to feel jealous or judgemental of someone for having the things you want, step away. This is a really bad energetic point from which to do work.

4. Meditate

While you might not think mediation is related to your dream, in particular, it is. If you’re feeling discouraged or unmotivated or any negative emotion at all, it’s really hard to shift into a positive state because it’s such a big emotional leap you’re trying to make.

Taking a moment to meditate will involve bringing your emotional state back to neutral before trying to lift yourself into an inspired or cheery state.

Moving from low to neutral is a lot easier than moving from low to high. If you consistently practice this, you’ll find that you intuitively feel the need to meditate when you’re starting to feel discouraged.

5. Surround Yourself with Great People

It’s really hard to stay motivated if you’re spending all your time with bitter people who are always looking to poke holes in your dreams. Not only is this incredibly toxic, but it’s likely to damage your progress as well.

You’re an amalgamation of the five people you spend the most time with, and this means that if you’re surrounded by people who gave up on their dreams and settled, you’re more likely to do the same thing.

Try to meet people who are pursuing the same goals you are and if you can’t find them in your city or town, turn to the internet. Social media has a fantastic way of bringing like-minded people together.

6. Eat Healthy and Stay Hydrated

Of course, sometimes, your lack of motivation doesn’t have anything to do with external inputs but rather what’s going on within your body. You need water, healthy fats, carbs, and protein for your body to function optimally. Sugary foods and simple carbs cause energy crashes that make it hard to be productive or motivated.

Conclusion

The above tips should help you keep your motivation levels high as you pursue your dreams.

It’s important that you don’t suppress fears or struggles when they arise but that you listen to them and ask them questions and integrate them. Ignored anxiety tends to get louder, but anxiety that is acknowledged with a simple: yes, of course, I’m nervous, I really care about this and want it to work out, settles.
