steps to achieve your goal

How many times have you set a goal but failed to achieve it? If you have been setting the same goal over and over again, but you’re not creating the result you want that will help you get to the goal, this article is for you.

That’s right, if you follow these 7 steps, you will never have to repeat the same goal and go through the same year again.

You can produce outstanding success and achieve all your goals if you stick to these 7 steps…

1. Extreme focus

If you are serious in achieving your goal, you must give it the focus it deserves.

I know you probably have more than one goal to achieve this year. But, if you seriously want to achieve a goal, you must have extreme focus.

And that means out of all your goals, you must choose ONE, just one, to focus on.

Ask yourself, if you can achieve just one goal this year, which goal will it be?

Identify that one goal and then monomaniacally focus on it.

There’s no point in having 10 goals but at the end of the year, you fail to accomplish all of them. It is better to have ONE completed project than 10 partially completed projects, right?

So, find out what is the one goal that you absolutely want to achieve this year, and give it the focus it deserves.

2. Create a specific actionable plan

Write down the actionable steps so you know what to do.

Now, this step is extremely important. Why? Because without a specific actionable plan, you’re going to procrastinate because you didn’t give clear instructions to your mind as to what you want it to do.

This is where the majority of people fail. They have goals, but they don’t formulate an actionable plan.

What you need to do is take a piece of paper, and write down your goal on top of the paper. And then break down your goal into smaller milestones. And after that, formulate possible actionable steps that you need to take to achieve all the milestones.

When you do this, you are mapping out how to get to where you want to go from where you are. It gives a crystal-clear plan for what you need to do to achieve your goal.

For example, if your goal is to lose weight and get back in shape this year, how are you going to do it? What are the action steps you need to take? Here are some examples…

  • Run for 30 minutes at 7 AM on Monday and Thursday.
  • Hit the gym and exercise with a trainer for an hour on Tuesday and Friday, at 6 PM.
  • Take green juice for breakfast every workday.
  • Stop taking in any food after 8 PM.
  • Drink only keto coffee in the morning and no more coffee after 3 PM.

These are crystal-clear and actionable steps that can help you reach your goal, which is to lose weight and get back in shape.

It doesn’t matter what goal you are trying to pursue, whether it is to build a blog, grow a YouTube channel, or write a book, you must create an actionable plan so that you know what you need to achieve the goal.

3. Time block for action

Block off your time for action!

Knowing what you need to do is just the first step. You can still procrastinate or skip the action when you’re not feeling motivated.

So, here’s what you should do to make sure you carry out the actions and actually do them: time-block your actions.

Time-block is a powerful technique that can help you make real progress each day.

When I first started this blog, I time-blocked at least 2 to 3 hours every morning from 9 AM for content creation. 5 years later, I have over 500 blog posts on this blog. And most of the articles are long-form, with more than 2,000 words.

That’s how powerful time-block is.

You should do the same. Block off your calendar to carry your action steps according to your plan.

If you are in sales, you should time-block your prospecting activities. For instance, you can time-block an hour, say from 10 AM to 11 AM, and you will NOT do anything except cold-calling.

This will make sure you are consistently getting leads for your business and generating sales.

Remember, you must time-block your top priority. If you don’t, other less important tasks will take over and you will lose your productivity and focus.

4. Invest time in learning and growth

Be willing to learn and invest for growth.

Next, if you want to achieve your goal this year, you must invest time in learning and growth.

For example, if your goal is to get fit and train your body to achieve 6-pack abs, you can watch YouTube videos on how others achieved it. Learn from others so that you can replicate their strategies and get the results faster.

By the way, you can also greatly boost your chances of success when you align your mind with the success you want. Use this attraction technique here to help you achieve your goal faster and easier.

The same goes if you want to build a successful online business. Read books, invest in courses, learn from those who have done it, and then replicate their strategies.

You don’t have to start from scratch or try to figure everything out by yourself. You just need to commit to learning and never-ending improvement.

There is a lot of information out there, especially in today’s world where you can access unlimited information through the internet. You can learn almost anything you want.

I strongly recommend you read at least 1 to 2 books a month or subscribe to your favorite YouTube channels or podcast to learn more from other successful people.

5. Track and measure at least weekly

Measure your progress and track your results every week.

This step is crucial. Most people don’t track their results, and thus, they don’t know if they are creating the progress they want or they are not.

Never let this happen to you. Track and measure your progress at least once a week. This is important because when you know where you are, you can then better formulate an actionable plan that can get you the result you want.

Besides, tracking also helps connect you with your goal. You see, setting a goal is NOT a one-time process. You should revisit and review your goal and progress consistently.

Many people give up on their goals because they lose motivation and momentum. And the reason for that is that they don’t review or revisit their goals often enough.

You cannot just set your goal once and then forget about it. You must get back to your goal every day. Talk about your goal, think about it, dream about it, breathe it, and plan it to achieve it.

6. Pivot and improve your strategy through feedback

Consistently improve your strategy so that you can reach your goal.

And step #6, you want to pivot and improve your strategy through feedback. You see, you’re going to fail. You will surely make mistakes. And most likely you will not achieve your goal on the first attempt.

And this is why feedback is important.

When you are not getting the result you want, you must learn from the experience. Rather than looking at failure as a failure, look at it as feedback for improvement.

As the famous saying goes, “Sometimes you succeed, sometimes you learn.” So, there’s no failure as long as you learn something out of it.

Too bad that many people fail to look at things as feedback. When they are not getting the results they want, they quit and give up because they believe they have failed.

The truth is that you will face many defeats in life, but you must NOT be defeated. Sometimes, you’re going to do it more than once to achieve it.

Imagine you want to build a YouTube channel that gets 10,000 subscribers this year. You work hard for it and have been publishing videos consistently. After 3 months, you only get 100 subscribers, what should you do?

Most people would have given up. But you’re NOT most people. You treat the result as feedback. No one is watching or subscribing to your channel, and that tells you something.

Perhaps your videos are not interesting enough and that’s why viewers are not subscribing. And so, you should change your content or the way you create your videos, right?

That’s how you improve and get better. This is why feedback is important for your growth.

7. Don’t give up and keep your momentum going

Hang in there and don’t give up!

And the last step to help you achieve your goal this year is none other than this – don’t give up and keep your momentum going.

People fail to achieve their goals because they give up. They quit on their goals, and they stop taking action. Don’t!

No matter what happens, do your best and don’t give up. Remember this quote:

“A winner will never quit and a quitter will never win.”

As long as you don’t give up, you still stand a chance to win and succeed with your goal.

The key is your strategy. Find the right strategy, commit to taking massive action, and believe in yourself.

Success may not be easy, but that doesn’t mean it is impossible.

You can achieve any goal you want, as long as you keep trying and keep taking action until you get there.
