7 Practical Steps How to Turn Your Dreams into Reality

How did extraordinary people like Steve Jobs, Richard Branson, Oprah Winfrey, Elon Musk, Michael Jordan, Lionel Messi, Warren Buffett, etc., turn their dreams into reality?

We all have dreams, goals, and ideas of what we want to achieve in life. No matter what kind of dream life you want, dreams and ideas are the starting point of everything.

It is good to have dreams and goals but thinking about them alone isn’t going to turn what you want into reality.

You need action – real, solid action.

You can’t just dream about what you want and then do nothing about it and wait for things to fall from the sky.

If you seriously want to make your dreams a reality, you must take action and do something about them.

Here are the 7 practical steps you can take to turn your dreams into reality:

1. Transform your dreams into goals

Don’t just dream about what you want, turn them into goals. Dreams are just the ideas in your head, but when you set them as your goals, you are making them more tangible.

People who set goals show their commitment toward what they want. You don’t just keep your dreams in your head, you must turn them into goals that are more specific and actionable.

Here’s what you can do:

Turn your dreams into goals by writing them down on papers. Be specific and make your goals measurable and actionable.

And don’t forget to include a deadline for each of your goals. You want to make your dreams as concrete and as practical as possible.

2. Study and research your strategy

The second thing you should do after you have identified your goals is to study and research on your strategy.

You want to know the best possible way to achieve your goals.

For instance, if you want to build a successful blog, you need to know what kind of target audience you are trying to capture.

Do you need to become an influencer in your market? Or do you prefer to build a magazine or news-style blog?

Knowing your strategy helps a lot when it comes to creating your action plan.

One more thing, just make sure you dedicate just enough time to find out your strategic plan. You don’t have to spend a year on research, the key is to know enough to get things going.

And after that, you can learn as you build.

 Here’s what you can do:

Read books, ask around, and check on the internet for the best possible strategy to achieve your goals. Regardless of whether you are trying to lose weight, to build 6-pack abs, or to build an e-commerce business, someone has done that before.

And you want to know how they have done it so you can replicate their success. You can also attend classes and seminars to get the experts to show you the way.

3. Create an action plan

Once you have a goal and you roughly know what to do to produce the results you want, it is time to create an action plan.

Most people don’t make plans for what they want. They just dream about what they want, and at most, they will just set goals.

But that’s all they do. They don’t turn their goals into an actionable plan.

You want to set yourself up to win. And so, you must give specific instructions to your mind of what you want it to do.

Without giving a clear direction to your mind, you will feel confused or even overwhelmed which will eventually lead to procrastination.

Here’s what you can do:

Here’s a good resource you should read:

==> How to Turn Your Goals into Actionable Plans

The key is to turn your goals into specific and actionable steps where you know what to do to get to your goals.

You don’t want to leave things up to chances. You want to be proactive and make things happen rather than being reactive and wait for things to happen.

When you have a plan and you know what specific action steps you need to take, all you need to do then is to just do it.

4. Take one step at a time

Now that you have your own action plan, you just need to take action and execute the plan.

This is where most people fail because they choose to do nothing and procrastinate on their plans.

Never let this happen to you. You just need to start small and take one step at a time.

You don’t have to change everything takes big bold moves every time, but you have to make sure you are making progress each day, big or small.

No matter how small your action steps, you must make sure you do something to move forward.

Success is not about what you do occasionally, it is about what you do on a daily basis, day-in, and day-out.

For example, to lose weight, you can’t expect to hit the gym once in a month and by the next month, you will become slim and fit.

No, success doesn’t happen that way. Success is about being consistent.

If you want to lose weight, you must do it on a regular basis, say like working out in the gym 3 days a week. And you maintain your routine for 3 months.

After 3 months, you will start to see your weight dropping and your body slowly transforming into the shape that you desire.

Here’s what you can do:

Make progress every day. Even if you are busy, make sure you take one small action step each day to move forward.

Remember, you want to maintain your consistency so that you will build the habit of taking action on a daily basis. Here’s an article you should read:

5. Learn and improve from your feedback

You can’t really achieve your goals without improving from the feedback you receive. Once you followed your plan and took action, you will receive feedback.

If you are producing the results you want, you are doing things right and you just need to do more of it.

But this is not always the case. There will be times when you make mistakes and fail to produce the results you want.

This is the time where you need to learn from your feedback. Don’t treat mistakes and failures as something that stops you.

Instead, look at your mistakes and failures as a signal for you to grow and improve.

Imagine if you face an obstacle in your journey, you can choose to turn around, stop there, or give up. But this is not going to help you reach your destination.

You need to overcome the obstacle. You can always find a way to go through, go under, or climb over the wall.

But no matter what you do, don’t give up. Learn from the feedback and overcome the problems.

Here’s what you can do:

Each week or at least once a month, schedule time to review your results. You want to learn what is working and what is not.

You want to be effective with your actions and this is how you learn. Get rid of what is not working and do more of what is getting you the results you desire.

6. Create your own learning plan

I’m a strong advocate for learning. I believe that anyone can achieve what they want as long as they are committed to learning.

Regardless of your dreams, you can turn them into reality if you are willing to learn the knowledge and improve your skills to do better.

Therefore, create your own learning plan. For me, I read books every day. I spend about 30 minutes to an hour each day into reading.

Furthermore, I also watch and read articles online to improve specific skills or knowledge area.

For example, I want to be a successful blogger, hence, I read blogs from other successful bloggers like Neil Patel and more. Besides, I also watch videos and take online courses whenever I see fit.

And not only that, each year, I attend about 2 or 3 seminars and workshops to further sharpen my skills on subjects that interest me.

The more you learn, the more you can earn.

Here’s what you can do:

Create your own learning plan. How do you plan on improving your knowledge and your skills?

If you want to be a successful chef, you must schedule a time to cook or bake. You can attend classes and learn the recipes from others.

No matter what you want to achieve, you can always learn and become better at what you do. You want to become an expert in your industry.

And the only way to do so is to grow yourself and upgrade your standards.

7. Keep your momentum

Here’s a good saying from Tony Robbins:

“People who succeed have momentum. The more they succeed, the more they want to succeed, and the more they find a way to succeed. Similarly, when someone is failing, the tendency is to get on a downward spiral that can even become a self-fulfilling prophecy.”

And this is why it is important to keep your momentum. When you are winning, you will build up your confidence and take more action. As a result, you will create more wins and produce more success.

On the other than, when you are not doing anything or you fail to produce the results you want, you feel lousy and lack of motivation.

And when you feel lousy, you take even less action. And the less action you take, the less results you produce.

This is how our momentum works, and in order to produce the success we want, we must maintain our momentum and keep things going.

Here’s what you can do:

One brilliant method to build and maintain your momentum is to always start small and be consistent. You want to create small victories to build up your level of confidence.

Plus, as I have mentioned above, make sure you make progress each day, no matter how big or small.

You want to keep things moving even if you are slow. As long as you are doing something about your dreams and goals, you will eventually achieve them.

This is the reason I choose to read every day too. Reading motivates me and keeps my momentum going.

And this why you must commit to learning every day. And here’s a good course I strongly recommend you take: Goal Setting Formula, learn how to set and achieve your goals like a winner.
