You probably wanted to have more wealth, make more money, build your own business, travel around the world without having to worry about money and time, and of course, you seek more success in life.
That is why the title of this article attracts you and you are reading this right now.
Let me tell you, if you are serious about being successful and living your dreams, continue to read on.
You are about to discover the 7 major roadblocks that prevent most people from being a super achiever. These are the most common chains that lock-down most people from living their dreams.
Never let these roadblocks stop you. You should be aware of them and take necessary actions and prevent them from stopping you in your journey to success…
1. Never Dare To Dream
When we are young, we are great dreamers. We watch the Avengers, and we wanted to be the superhero to save the world. When we watch a cartoon, and we are inspired by the main characters and we wanted to be just like them. However, these only happen in most people’s childhood.
We never dare to dream big again after we grow up, why? One of the most obvious reasons is that we have been conditioned by the people around us and the media. We were conditioned to go to school, get good grades, be good and be ordinary like most people.
One more thing is that when we get into school, we were encouraged NOT to make mistakes. When we make mistakes, we get punished and get lower marks and grades.
Unfortunately, this is not going to help us at all in the real world. If we’re trying to be like everybody, we will be normal and live a mediocre life like everyone else.
Living a successful life requires a totally different approach from the ordinary.
First, we need to dream big. You need to dare to dream. It is alright to have a dream, a big one. It is free to dream.
In fact, if you look at the world today, it is those people who have big dreams are moving the world. Those who do not dare to dream, become the followers and do things accordingly.
While there is nothing wrong to be ordinary, but let me remind you that life is short, so you might just live a life that you will remember.
Therefore, from now on, dare to dream and dream big. You want to make your dream so big that you got inspired by it the moment you think about it.
You want to make it worthwhile to think, to talk, breathe and to take action on it.
Nobody wants to live a small life. That is why you are here, right? So dare to dream and never listen to the naysayer.
It is your dream, and this is your life. So live the life you want and protect your dream. If you don’t believe in your dream, nobody else would.
2. Did Not Act On Their Dreams
This is the ultimate killer of all dreams and successes – not acting on the dreams.
Thinking about living a successful life is easy, just close your eyes and imagine that you are rich, living in a 10,000 square feet bungalow by the sea, having a Benz in your garage, and having millions of dollars in your bank.
The fact is that it is easy to dream and to think about what we want, but to make it a reality; we need to act on it.
We need to take action to make our dreams come true. There’s no point thinking about what you desire but are not going to act on it. It is just a waste of time to think about it.
So if you are serious about living your dreams, you must think, and you must act on it. Take action every single day to work on your dreams.
If you want to get rich and become a millionaire, find a way to make a million. Should you start your own business? Should you invest in stocks or property? Do you need to learn how to sell? Find out the answer, create a plan and take immediate action right away.
One thing you need to understand is that this is not going to be an easy path. If it is easy, everyone would be successful, and everyone will be rich.
It is not going to be easy. It takes a lot of effort, focus, time and energy to accomplish your big dreams. However, find out what will make it worth it for you.
Make sure you dreams are what you want and take action every single day.
Commit To Taking Small Actions Everyday
I learned this principle from Robin Sharma that says that if you take action and act on 5 small tasks that will move you toward your goals, within a year, you will have taken 1825 small tasks.
Can you imagine what these 1825 small successes will bring you in a year? Their impact on your life is going to be huge.
And all you need to do is to start with taking 5 small actions each day.
All successes were built upon small measurable steps. Rome was not built in a day. Microsoft, Apple, Virgin, and all other big companies did not become an overnight success.
“It took me 17 years and 114 days to become an overnight success.”
– Lionel Messi
So commit to taking small actions from now on. Believe that you can achieve your goals and reach your dreams. Take consistent action until you produce the result you want in life.
3. Not Being Consistent
Do you know that everyone and anyone can become a millionaire if he or she wanted to? If you start saving $405 a month for 40 years at an annual interest rate of 7%, you will have $1 million dollars after.
What if you manage to improve the interest rate to 10%? Or what if you can save more per month? You can become a millionaire faster, through consistent saving.
It is the same in life and success. Anyone can be successful as long as he or she has the discipline to follow through and act on his or her dreams, consistently for a period.
What prevents most people from being successful is that they keep changing their goals and targets. When they are just graduated from the school, they get involved with network marketing and they dream big there.
After trying for a while, they thought that network marketing is not for them, and they should try out internet marketing. They tried to sell things online and wanted to build their own internet business.
After some time and receive no result, they decided to start a brick and mortar business. After all, this is the real business and where they can make the real money.
However, it is not easy, and they finally give in and decided to go back to work on their jobs.
Does this sound familiar?
Most people never stick to their dreams and goals. They switch from one target to another. They jump from one business to another.
They try out many things but never really consistent in any one of them. This is why most people fail to accomplish success in their life.
It is like building a wall. How do you think the Great Wall of China was built? By laying one brick at a time.
You see, if you lay a few bricks and thrown in the towel because you don’t see the wall, and you quit and go elsewhere and do other things, the wall will never be built.
You have to stay there, work hard for it and be consistent until you produce the result. If you keep changing dreams or businesses, you will waste a lot of time and energy that you have poured in previously.
Before you quit a project to start a new one, remember why you want to do it in the first place. So keep trying and keep working on your dreams until you achieve them.
Sometimes it may take a few years or even longer to see the fruits of your work. Trust me, when that happens, it will be well worth it.
And if you are not willing to commit to working on your dreams until you see the result, stop immediately because the dreams you are chasing may not be what you truly wanted.
Learn from athletes that have successfully made it to the Olympic. They have trained hard and work hard. They prepared themselves for years so that they can qualify into Olympic and compete in just that one or few games to prove their hard work all the years.
And if they fail in Olympic, they have to wait for another 4 years again. Are you as committed to them?
Thus, be consistent with what you want and work on your dreams until you produce the result you want.
4. Limiting Beliefs
Limiting beliefs are common, and you have to learn to manage them.
If you let your limiting beliefs stop you, you will never amount to any big success in life. Now, ask yourself this question, “Can I achieve what I wanted?”
If your answer is a no or you doubt about it, it simply means that you don’t believe in yourself and your dreams.
Whether you think you can or you cannot, you are right. What we believe are just beliefs. There is no right or wrong.
Some people may believe that they are capable of achieving huge success, and they go on to take massive action. On the other hand, some people doubt about themselves and never really take much action, because they thought they are going to fail.
Hence, whatever you believe in will determine how much potential you are going to tap in.
If you absolutely believe that you can be successful, and it is impossible to fail, you will do whatever it takes because you know that no matter what you do, you will be successful, and you just cannot fail.
How’s that?
Conversely, if you don’t trust yourself, and you doubt your ability, you will never tap into your full potential to make things happen. You will be doubtful whenever you wanted to do something or make a decision.
Should you put money to reinvest in your business? What if the economy is bad and you lost all the money? What if you fail in the business venture? What if the business plan does not work?
These are some of the common limiting beliefs that stop most people from moving ahead.
You have to understand that doubts and uncertainties are always there. There’s no guarantee that you will be successful when you venture into your own business.
All you need to do is to solve the problem when it arises. You can’t come up with the perfect business plan, and you cannot make sure that everything will be smooth.
In fact, most things will go wrong, and you just cannot control everything. The key to preventing things from failing is to learn how to handle them, not running away from doubts or uncertainties.
So never let your limiting beliefs stop you from achieving what you want. Things can never be perfect, so you might as well just do it and solve the problem when it surfaces.
5. Fear To Fail
Who does not fear to fail? Everyone does. However, successful people will never let their fear to stop them. They act in spite of fear.
The best way to confront what you fear is not to run away from it, but to face it and overcome it.
Some people told me that they would love to start their own business, but it was too late for them because they have a family to take care, they have a mortgage to pay, and they have a lot of other commitments.
And they fear that if they quit their job and start their own business, what if the business fails?
Well, I have no answer to the question, but I know that if they keep doing what they always do, they will be getting back the same results they always did.
Never let fear stops you from moving forward. Everyone has their commitments and their things to care, but we have to find out how to handle and manage it when things go wrong.
Worry and fear will never get you anywhere. You have to act and face them.
Do you know that people learn the most from their failures and mistakes? Without failure and mistakes, we will never discover new grounds, and we will never try new things that will propel us to greater heights.
It is said that failure is the mother of all successes, and I agree. It is normal if you fear to fail. Nobody likes to fail, but it is a path that we cannot skip.
This is why we need to learn how to act in spite of fear. We need to learn how to master ourselves to face our fears and overcome them.
6. Never Commit To Mastery
Success will never come to you if you never master what you do. Look at Michael Jordan; he is one of the best basketball players because he learned to master the skill.
The same goes for other successful athletes such as Tiger Woods, Agassi, Serena Williams, Kobe Bryan, Lionel Messi, Christiano Ronaldo, etc.
You will be able to produce extraordinary results when you become the master in what you do. Thus, you need to spend time and pouring effort to learn to become the best in what you do.
People always ask what the best business to do is, and the answer is every business can be the best business; you just need to be the best in it.
If you are in the fitness business, be the best in your industry, and you will make it big. If you are into selling medicines, be in the top 10% in your industry, and you will make a lot of money. If you are a blogger, be the best in your niche, and you will grow a massive audience.
Success requires mastery of your skills. You need to be the best in what you do.
When you have become the best in what you do, you can command for the highest pay. And people will be more than willing to pay the professional to solve their problems.
How To Become A Master In What You Do
Here are a few pointers that can help you to be the master in what you do.
First, have the passion. Although passion itself is not enough to make you super successful, it is a success trait that you cannot miss out.
All successful people love what they do, and they have an intense passion for their work. This is why they are willing to work on it and never quit even when times are tough. So be passionate.
Second, commit to CANI. Anthony Robbins called it Constant-And-Never-Ending-Improvement. You have to understand that there is always a better way to do things.
You may be doing your best, but it does not mean that it is the best way. This is where you should search for better strategies and seek help from other successful people to learn and improve your ways of doing things.
Third, be willing to try out new things. Remember, if you keep doing things the same old way, you will be getting the same old results all the time. If you want something different, change.
And finally, take consistent action and stay on until you fully master the game of success. The action is the bridge that connects your dreams and your reality. If you want to make your dreams a reality, take action.
7. Addiction To Soft Life
Most people fail to live their dreams because they are addicted to soft life. They are so comfortable living the way they are and they simply not willing to change.
Yes they do have dreams, and they do want to accomplish more in life, but they just refuse to change because they are not willing to venture out of their comfort zone.
You are where you are right now because of what you did all the previous years. It is not what you do yesterday that determines who you are right now.
In other words, if you are successful today, it is because of your consistent actions, decisions and habits for many years that led you where you are now.
And if you are not successful now, take the responsibility because it is what you have been doing for the past few years that you ended up to this point in life.
Living a successful life is all about adopting success habits that produce results. And you must be willing to let go of habits that are not helping you at all.
Limiting habits will limit you from achieving great success. Watching excessive TVs, spending time surfing the internet for nothing, oversleep, daydreaming, etc., is not going to help you one bit.
You have to adopt the right empowering habits that are going to support your goals and dreams.
Wake up an hour earlier to prepare for your day. Adopt the habit of reading personal development books. Make it a habit of setting goals, create plans and take consistent action toward your targets every day.
And these are some of the productive habits that you should adopt. Too bad that most people know that they should take action, they should read the book, they should spend less time on TV, but they just can’t change it because they have deeply addicted to their soft life.
Success will never come to you unless you change, drop all your limiting habits and start adopting the empowering ones.
Change is hard in the beginning, messy in the middle and beautiful in the end. It is hard changing your life. It is very difficult. The process will be messy and tough, but once you have got a hold of it, change will be one of the best things you did in your life.
So stop living the soft life and stop wasting your time. Instead, start living productively and living the life of your dreams.
