I know it, getting out of bed in the morning is difficult. And to wake up with energy and motivation is even more challenging. But to be successful and to achieve your dreams, you need to learn how to master your mornings to kickstart each day with motivation.
I bet you understand that kind of feeling – you wake up knowing that you have big goals to pursue and important tasks to do, but you just fail to muster up the energy and motivation you need to do it.
And so you choose to slack, delay the work, and procrastinate on your goals.
Some people choose to play games, some check Facebook, and some watch YouTube videos, and before they know it, they have spent an hour mindlessly on those unproductive tasks.
“Stop relying on motivation, build habits instead,” is what most self-help gurus will tell you.
While I do agree that you need to build good habits that will help you get things done, but I also believe that motivation is something important, especially in the morning.
You need to feel motivated to kickstart your day. Without motivation, you will not even want to follow through your habits.
Morning Motivation Is Important
It is important because you want to get driven and act on your tasks so that you will feel accomplished and that gives you a sense of victory.
This is important because I believe that success is a cycle. When you feel accomplished, you will tap more into your potential and pour in more action. As a result, you get more results, which will eventually reinforce your good feeling.
On the other hand, if you are not feeling good, you tap less into your potential, put in less effort, and of course, you produce lesser results. And when you don’t make much progress, you feel dejected and you will feel even worse.
That’s why it is important to make sure you get your morning started with motivation.
And here are some great things you can do to jumpstart your morning with energy and passion!
1. Keep your body hydrated
This is what I each morning right after I wake up. I drink a full glass of water to hydrate my body. When you sleep for 6 or 7 hours, you don’t drink any water and that makes you dehydrate. So kickstart your body functions by taking in a full glass of water in the morning.
If you’re not convinced, read this article to find out all the benefits of drinking water in the morning.
2. Exercise and move your body
Here’s another thing you can do to make you awake and driven in the morning – move your body. Now, you don’t have to workout hard and sweat heavily, you just need to do some simple stretching and move your body. Of course, if you have a workout plan, that’s fine too.

If you are a regular reader of my blog, you will know that I’m an avid reader. I read whenever I’m free. And this year, I set it as a goal to read a book each week. Last week, I have read a great book about blogging called, The Million Dollar Blog written by Natasha Courtenay-Smith.
I found that when I read for about 20 to 30 minutes each morning, I feel better. It makes me motivated and makes me ready to take on what’s coming. You should make this your habit too.
6. Visualize your dreams
Yes, visualize the achievement of your dreams. One of the most powerful ways to motivate yourself in the morning is to take a good look at your vision boards and imagine yourself already living your dreams. Visualization works and it makes you feel great.
Imagine you already living your dreams. What kind of lifestyle would you like to have? What car do you want to drive? Imagine all your exciting are being achieved. How does that make you feel?
7. Remind yourself of your goals and purpose
What makes you motivated is your purpose. Hence, each morning, focus on your goals and remind yourself of your purpose. Ask yourself why you want to achieve your goals each day. When your purpose is strong, so does your desire. And your desire is what makes and keeps you driven.
Remember, repetition is the mother of all skills. What you can do is reviewing your goals or write them down, every single day.
The more you condition your goals into your mind, the more motivated you will become. Hence, remind yourself of your purpose and your goals each morning before you start your day.

You don’t have to do this if dislike the taste of coffee. As for me, I take a cup of freshly brewed coffee as I write my article. At the point of this writing, I have just finished the coffee. Although coffee is proven to make you awake, drinking too much of it can be bad for your health. Usually, I drink just one cup a day.
12. Put on your favorite clothes
Do you really believe that you can get motivated to work by staying on your pajamas? I don’t think so. If you are serious about getting motivated and completing your task, you need to get dressed properly. When you change your attire, your mood changes too.

13. Feel the morning breeze and the warm morning sun
Once you wake up in the morning, open the curtains and windows, let the morning breeze and the sunshine come into your room. The fresh air will wake you up and boost your energy.
Each morning, after I drink a full glass of water, I will walk to my balcony and take a few deep breaths. The fresh morning air and the wee hours give me a sense of a new beginning and something exciting is waiting for me.

I believe that if you want to stay motivated throughout the day, you must include something that you look forward to in your day. And this is why I suggest you schedule your playtime into your day too.
Playing games, reading, or a hobby works well. And you don’t have to spend the whole day to do this. Perhaps, 30 minutes to an hour will be sufficient. When you have something exciting and something that you’re passionate to look forward, it makes your day better.
Here’s a great article published on NBC News in explaining why adults should make time to play too.
17. Get started early and never be in a rush
If you truly want to manufacture motivation in the morning, you must get started early and never let yourself to be in a rush. When you have enough time to prepare for everything, you feel good and less stress. Conversely, when you’re in a rush, it makes you feel pressured.
Get up a little earlier each day. Somehow, if you are truly committed to living a better life and to make your morning great, get up early and make your morning a bliss.
Experiment and Test Out What Works Best For You
Now that you have learned that there are so many things you can do to prepare yourself and jumpstart your morning, but where should you begin?
My suggestion to you is to experiment with your own schedule. Create your own morning rituals.

The key is to try out what works best for you.
And once you have discovered a routine that works for you, keep at it. Make it a habit.
