morning motivational books copy

Do you want to start your day strong and with motivation? Well, I guess everyone does. And one of the easiest and best ways to do so is to read books.

I’m an avid reader and I averaged about 2 books a month, sometimes even more. I believe you know that reading is necessary if you want to be successful and produce outstanding results in your life.

But if you are unclear of why reading is so important and how it can change your life, read my previous article:

Why Do You Need To Read Books And The Benefits Of It

And in today’s article, we’re going to talk about the motivational books that you can read in the morning to kickstart your day and start strong.

I love to read in the morning. There’s no distraction and more importantly, books give me ideas on how I can do better each day.

And when I read inspirational books in the morning, they drive me and pump me up to start my day with motivation.

This is why many experts suggest we read in the morning.

When you are motivated and pumped up, you can then go through your day with energy and take massive action that will get you to your goals.

You see, most people fail to achieve what they want in life because they are constantly distracted and often lose focus on their goals.

They take action only when they are motivated. But when they are not, they don’t do anything and just become reactive and respond to whatever that comes to them.

Reading motivational books in the morning can help you solve this.

When you are inspired, you are able to consciously focus on your goals. You start your day with greatness and energy, and you take action to produce the results that you want.

This is why I strongly suggest you read in the morning.

But what are the books that you should read in the morning? In my opinion, books should be fun and excited to read. The ideas and information contained in the book must be inspiring enough to drive you.

Apart from that, the book must be easy to read and must be quick to consume. You don’t want to spend 2 hours in the morning reading a textbook that makes you feel bored.

You want to have a quick read, say about 15 to 30 minutes, and you want the books you read to elevate your mood.

This is why it is important to choose what books to read. Below are the 10 books that I recommend you read in the morning.

If you have no idea what books to read, choose one of them from the list below and read it.

And if you are tight on budget, just get one and reread the book over and over again. You don’t have to read them all, just one to get you started will do.

And before you dive into the list below, I want to inform you that the ranking doesn’t really matter.

The numbers are just numbers. They are all great motivational books that are perfect to read in the morning to kickstart your day…

The Obstacle Is the Way is written by Ryan Holiday, a media strategist, a marketer, and also a very successful entrepreneur.

This book is easy to read and quick to understand. In the book, Ryan talks about the inspiration drawn from stoicism, the ancient Greek philosophy of enduring pain and adversity.

As the title of the book suggests, Ryan talks about how one can turn obstacles into opportunities. The book includes examples from super successful people in history – John D. Rockefeller, Marcus Aurelius, Ulysses S. Grant to the modern leader that shaped the world, Steve Jobs.

If you are feeling stuck, frustrated, or have no motivation to pursue your dreams, read this book. Spend a couple of minutes each morning and read this book. I’m sure this book will lift you higher in life and motivate you to start your day with greater energy and optimism.

To be honest, this book is really one of my favourites. Although it is a financial book on getting rich, it is very motivational. If you have never read it yet, I strongly recommend you do.

I believe that deep inside all of us, we want to achieve financial success. We want to be a millionaire.

Do you ever dream about enjoying the luxury things of life? Travel first class? Visiting the most exotic locations on earth and never have to worry about money? How about living in a beautiful bungalow by the sea with your family? Do you want to drive an expensive car?

Well, I bet we all have that dream. And this book will inspire you to reach your financial dream.

The author, MJ DeMarco is a semi-retired entrepreneur, investor, and also best-selling author who has written numerous financial books.

The stories, principles, and ideas shared in The Millionaire Fastlane will open your eyes and show you what you can achieve financially in your life.

This is a must-read book for those who want to live a financially successful life. If you read it in the morning, it inspires you to want to achieve your goals and take massive actions throughout the day.

3. The Compound Effect

The Compound Effect is another famous book that I recommend everyone to read. If you were to ask me a book that can change your life, The Compound Effect is the one.

The book was written by Darren Hardy, the motivational speaker, business advisor, and also the former publisher of SUCCESS magazine.

It can be a quick and fun read, but make sure you stop as you read to relate the stories and principles shared by Darren to your own life. The ideas from the book are so down-to-earth that everyone can relate.

Not only that Darren has shared the principles that changed his life in the book, but he also shows you how you too, can transform your life and be successful.

And it is not a difficult or idea based on theory. Darren points out exactly how everyone can live their best lives one step at a time, by leveraging on the compound effect.

4. Delivering Happiness

Delivering Happiness is the autobiography of Tony Hsieh. This book is the personal and success story of Tony and it is a very inspirational one. It is fun to read and I believe this book will definitely motivate you to start your day.

Tony Hsieh is an internet entrepreneur and also a venture capitalist. He started LinkExchange many years ago and sold the company to Microsoft in 1998 for $265 million.

After his success in LinkExchange, he joined another company, Zappos, and brought the company to a stellar success. Zappos was then acquired by Amazon.com for approximately $1.2 billion.

Hsieh shared his story of how he managed to start a business, grow it, face the ups-and-downs in the business, and how he successfully brought Zappos from $1.6 million to a $1 billion revenue company.

The story is absolutely amazing and motivating too. Trust me, when you start to read this book, you don’t want to put it down.

5. Your Best Life Now

I’m not a Christian, I’m a Buddhist. Although Your Best Life Now is a book written by a famous pastor, Joel Osteen, I found it to be very inspirational especially when you go through some tough times in life.

This may not be a book meant only for the Christian, it can be a book meant for all who has dreams to pursue.

In the first chapter of the book, Osteen shared with you some powerful insights on how thinking big is important in life and how thinking big can make you successful in every venture that you went to.

I have read this book a couple of times and I still discover that this book inspires me from time to time.

6. Secrets of the Millionaire Mind

This is another book that you must read. You may think that this is a book about financial tips and tricks, but it really is not.

Harv Eker, the author shared some of the most profound mindsets on how one can get rich and achieve his dreams.

This book is all about your thinking about money. And the ideas are really life-changing.

One of the mindsets I found to be interesting is that Harv said you should admire and bless rich and successful people.

According to Harv, if you curse or resent rich and successful people, you will never end up being rich because you can never become someone who you resent. And I found this to be true.

Therefore, whenever you see someone successful and rich, don’t resent him or her by thinking, “he must be lucky”, or “he must be unethical to have earned so much money”, instead, choose to admire and bless them.

Remember what Oprah Winfrey said?

“The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate.”

When you bless those who are rich and successful, you are somehow sending a message to your mind that you want to be like them too.

But when you resent the rich, you are telling your mind that rich equals bad and you don’t want to be rich. Do you get it?

Read the book. It is a relatively short read but the ideas and principles are amazing.

7. The Success Principles

When we talk about personal development books, there is no way we can skip this one. The Success Principles is a book written by Jack Canfield, the famous author of the Chicken Soup book series.

This book, like the title suggests, contain 64 essential principles for success. You can opt to consume a principle a day, but I believe that the moment you start to read this book, it will inspire you to continue to read on.

Canfield learned most of the principles from his mentor, W. Clement Stone. And he also combined some of the ideas that he’s studied, taught, and lived for more than 30 years into this inspiring book.

It is a book that will teach you to increase your confidence, to tackle daily challenges, to achieve your goals, to live your life with passion and purpose, and more importantly, to realize all your exciting ambitions.

Make The Success Principles a book that you read each morning. It will change your life. Like how it did to me.

8. The One Thing

This is one of the most famous books on personal productivity. I listed this book here because it inspires me to kickstart my day each morning.

This book was written by Gary Keller and many experts agreed that The One Thing is one of the best books on personal productivity.

If you want to achieve more and get more results, read this book. The principles are amazing and I’m sure you will benefit a lot from the book.

One of the most powerful ideas that transformed the way I work from this book is none other than time-blocking.

Time-blocking is powerful because you schedule your task at a certain time and you simply block out the time to make things happen.

Thus, if you want to make sure you get a certain task done, just time-block it.

Like how I manage to read about 2-4 books a month, I time-block and schedule my reading time. Usually, I read about a chapter or for 30 minutes in the morning before I start my work.

I time-block and make sure my tasks get done. Of course, time-blocking is just one of the many insightful ideas shared by Keller in the book.

So if you want to learn to be more productive and get better results, read The One Thing.

9. Grit

grit

I bet you have heard about this book from Dr. Angela Duckworth, Grit. Grit is a personality trait based on an individual’s perseverance and passion.

People with better grit tends to achieve better success in life. And this book from Duckworth explains about how one can develop grit and become successful in life.

This is not just an ordinary book stuff with ideas. Duckworth presents the book with facts, studies, research, and figures. To me, this book is exciting to read and some of the principles shared by the author are very interesting.

What I like about this book is that it shows how anyone, be it parents, teachers, students, athletes, or business people, can achieve outstanding success by becoming grittier.

And in this book, you will discover how you can change your life and achieve greater heights in life, not by talent or luck, but by developing your grit.

10. Start With Why

start with why
Get Start With Why from Amazon

This is another phenomenal book that I recommend you read. The only downside of this book is that the chapters are too long and it may take you longer to read the chapter before you stop.

However, Simon Sinek, the best-selling author of this book wrote the book in such a conversational tone that it makes you feel like he’s talking to you as you read.

Sinek also shared his idea on TED Talk based on the principle in this book. As a result, more than 28 million people have watched the talk and the video became the third most popular TED video of all time.

Start With Why is a fun book to read. The ideas Sinek tries to share are easy-to-understand. Sinek wants to help people become more inspired at work and in life.

And in my opinion, the book, Start With Why definitely explains why starting with why is everything.

According to Sinek, people are inspired by a sense of purpose or their “why”. And this is where greatness begins.

In the book, Sinek explains the ‘golden circle’ concept where “why”, “how”, and “what” relate to each other. Sinek also shows you why your “why” is vital to your success and when you start with your why, success will come to you.

Conclusion

In my opinion, these are the top 10 motivational books that you should read that can help you kickstart your day.
